The panel has relief wood carving with an undercut second layer. The foreground shows three dimensional figures while the second layer is a lattice of ruyi motifs. The panel has cinnabar red lacquer and gold leaf.

The figures are wearing hats representing the scholar gentry. The scene is a convivial gathering in the pavilion. Most of the figures are holding a fan which is a symbol of wisdom. The flowers are peonies and symbolise wealth and honour. The ruyi represents good wishes. The pavilion is decorated with carved balustrades and lanterns.
