The Queanbeyan River Railway bridge was first built of timber in 1887. The bridge was replaced in 1927, with Warren Deck steel trusses using the original piers and foundations. The bridge is listed in the NSW Heritage Register partly because the Warren Trusses are relatively rare. I am conscious here of the strict engineering, contrasting with undulating grazing countryside and the tortuous nature of a remnant eucalypt from the original sclerophyll forest.
